Who are We

The Islamic Economic Studies and Thoughts Centre (IESTC) was founded in 2016 by a group of friends who believe that Waqf al-Ilm can preserve the interests and advancement of sustainable knowledge in the long run. Our friendship is translated into a mutual relation that will bring our closeness, understanding and unity. Our friendship is based on The Prophet (SAW) saying that 'The right of a Muslim upon a Muslim are six' It was asked what are they? He replied: ' When you meet him, salute him; when he calls you, respond to him; When he seeks advice, give him advice; When he sneezes and praises Allah, respond to him; When he falls ill, visit him; When he dies, follow him (the funeral bier)' (Muslim) and 'You will see the believers in their mutual kindness, love and sympathy just like one body. When a limb complains, the whole body responds to it with wakefulness and fever' (Muslim and Bukhari)

What We Do

In the quest to be closed to God, our researchers use the knowledge from Al Quran and Al Hadith to explain the economic subjects that have an impact on the human life, how do the human beings, firms,  and government behave. Our discovery may reveal the new thoughts that try to promote the ideas that God is everywhere, supreme, universal, and everlasting and economic agents are spiritual beings that the highest spiritual principle is loving, teaching, giving, caring, sharing and helping one another.

The centre is an exciting place where researchers, scholarsand students investigate a diversity of topics. We enjoy a rich network of intellectual interaction among our community here, in the campus life (Bangi), and at collaborating institutions worldwide.

The centre is a non-profit organization, with 99% of our support provided by members of the Centre, grants,  and contracts. We are also a proud unit of several partners, which provides a wealth of academic resources and collaborations.

The Centre combines the best of a non-profit institutionwith scientific research of the highest standards, focused on our mission to interpret and preserve the Maqasid al Shariah.
